Students will practice identifying conic sections (circles, ellipses, hyperbolas, and parabolas), convert to standard form, and identify all key characteristics with this stations activity. All conics are given in general conic form, so students must cover to standard form by completing the square. Key characteristics include center, radius, vertices, covertices, asymptotes, vertex, directrix, and focus.
The only prep work required is to print the 8 stations cards, post around the room, and copy enough worksheets for students to take along with them.
This stations could also be used as task cards for students to complete in their seats.
