This is the digital version of my Volume and Surface Area Cut & Paste Puzzle, designed for use in Google Slides™. It’s an engaging, no-prep way for students to practice finding the volume and surface area of solid figures.

Shapes include rectangular prisms, triangular prisms, trapezoidal prisms, cylinders, square pyramids, triangular pyramids, cones, spheres, and hemispheres. A pentagonal prism is also included with the base area given. Many questions are challenging and will require the Pythagorean Theorem to find a side length. This activity was created for a high school level Geometry class.

How It Works:

Students solve each problem, then drag the puzzle pieces onto the template and arrange them so the edges have matching answers. When they’re finished, students can share the completed activity back with you for review. The box letters help students stay organized and make grading easier! An answer key is included.

What You’ll Receive:

Once purchased, you will receive a PDF document with a link and directions for adding the activity to your Google Drive™. You and your students will need a free Google account to access the activity. Once it’s added to your Drive, you can make copies and share the activity with your students.

Please note: Digital Google Slides™ activities are sold separately from the curriculum bundles. The printable PDF version of this activity is included in the corresponding curriculum/activity bundle, or you can purchase the printable Volume and Surface Area Cut & Paste Puzzle on its own.

I used this digital puzzle with my high school Geometry class to review volume and surface area, and it was a hit! The Google Slides format made it easy to assign and collect work, and students enjoyed the interactive, puzzle-style format. It challenged them to apply the Pythagorean Theorem and think critically. The lettered boxes helped keep their work organized and made grading much quicker. Great for distance learning or in-class practice!
