Students will practice applying a sequence of transformations with this set of two mazes. Transformations include reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations. This activity was designed for a high school level geometry class.
Mazes Included:
- Maze 1: Center of rotation and center of dilation is always the origin.
- Maze 2: Center of rotation and center of dilation is any point.
Reflections include the x-axis, y-axis, y = x, y = -x, and other vertical and horizontal lines). Rotations include 90°, 180°, 270° in both the clockwise and counterclockwise directions. The solutions are used to navigate students through the maze. There are many similar answers, however, there is only ONE way to navigate through the maze! Mazes work well as warm-ups, alternative homework assignments, classwork, or quick assessments. I included graph paper for you to print out if your students are hands-on and visual (like me!) and need to graph them.
