This transformations coloring activity helps students practice graphing reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations. Reflections are over the x-axis and y-axis, rotations are 90°, 180°, and 270° counterclockwise about the origin, and all dilations are centered at the origin. The activity includes 20 problems, separated into two columns, and graph paper is provided so students can show their work.
How It Works:
Students graph the pre-image and its image under each transformation, then identify a given point. Partners compare answers, and matching answers between the columns tell them how to color the sun. For example, if #1 is (1, 5) and light green is (1, 5), then all 1’s are colored light green. This works best as a partner activity, with one partner completing Column 1 and the other completing Column 2.
