Students will practice factoring trinomials of the form ax² + bx + c when a > 1 with this “I Have Who Has” card activity. There are 32 total cards. I keep card #1, and distribute the remaining cards to my students. If you have a smaller class, distribute two cards to some students. I read the first card and ask who has a factor of the trinomial. Whoever has it then asks who has theirs, and so on.
It is helpful to have an extra set of cards and display them on the overhead/document camera so the students have a visual to know which card we are on.
Another option is to have the students work with partners or small groups to line up the cards up so that the greatest common factor on the bottom of the card matches the polynomial on the top of the next card.
I have used the activity both ways and it’s worked well!
