In this performance task, students take on the role as a members of the student activities committee with the task to plan the 8th grade dinner-dance and apply concepts taught in the linear equations unit in Algebra 1. This task utilizes the concept of writing linear equations in slope-intercept form given the slope and y-intercept, a point and a slope, two points, and also utilizing standard form.

It is a great end to the linear equations unit in which students must apply their knowledge. A solution and rubric is included.

This resource is included in the following bundle(s):

A great review of linear functions and my students had fun pretending it was for their 8th grade dinner dance!

—CHRISTINE M.

My students enjoyed this type of assessment. The problem was relevant to them and the directions were clear. This resource allowed me to see the student's ability to apply the concepts being taught.

—DULCEY W.

I used this as an assessment for our linear functions unit - I love that the students use all three forms for linear equations and have to be able to explain what their work means in the context of the scenario!

—PAIGE D.
