Students will practice graphing linear equations given in slope-intercept form, standard form, as well as vertical and horizontal lines with this “Line-Up” Activity.

There are 15 cards in which students need to match the equation on the right side, with the graph on the left side of the next card. Equations are written in slope-intercept form and standard form. There are also a few horizontal and vertical lines. The equations are very similar (ex. y = 4x and y = 1/4x) so students really need to understand the concepts well in order to line them up correctly.

Sometimes I put the students into groups of 3-4 and give them the cards to line up. Sometimes I do one half of the room versus the other and they each hold a card. It’s a great collaborative activity to practice graphing linear equations.

There are two printing options included: full page cards or four cards per page.

Another teacher in my building has used this and said it was a perfect review activity. She was right-it was perfect!

Can I give it more stars? I just found this perfect! It was challenging to some until they got the feel for it and then they flew right through it. It's always nice to have them think for themselves on how to do the activity with minimal teacher guidance.

—AMANDA J.

My students loved this activity. They were completely engaged the entire time. I really appreciated the subtle differences between some of the equations which really made students have to pay attention to the details of each equation and graph.
