Students will practice classifying and graphing classic polar curves with this sort and graph activity. There are 9 total polar equations that students must identify and graph.

A 3-page graphing worksheet and 9 equations cards are included in this resource. Students identify the type of polar curve on the card and graph the equation in the row that corresponds to the type of curve. Then, they identify the types of symmetry, maximum r-values, and zeros for each graph. Each equation is assigned a letter which will make the activity easy to review or grade.

This was great practice for my students with graphing polar functions. It was very helpful that students had the sort options to give them hints and self-check their answers as they went.

—AMY R.

I loved how the different polar graphs are all there for students to have meaningful discussion comparing and contrasting them.

—LAUREL C.

This a great activity to do in Calculus BC to review polar curves.
