This transformations activity is a fun, low-prep way for middle school math students to practice graphing reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations on the coordinate plane. A worksheet is provided for graphing the preimage and image. Reflections are across the x- and y-axis, rotations are 90°, 180°, and 270° counterclockwise about the origin, and all dilations are centered at the origin.
How It Works:
Students rotate through 10 stations, and the answer at each station reveals a piece of a story (who, doing what, with whom, where, when, etc.). It’s a much more fun approach to multiple choice, and students love reading their finished stories to the class, especially when they find out which of their teachers is the “star” of the story!

All slides are given in an editable format so you are free to personalize the story for your students. PowerPoint is required to edit. Only story elements can be changed, not the actual problems.
