Students will practice finding the area of composite figures (irregular figures) as they rotate through 9 stations with this “Math Lib” Activity.  This includes squares, rectangles, trapezoids, triangles, and semi-circles. The answer at each station will give them a piece to a story (who, doing what, with who, where, when, etc.).

This is a much more fun approach to multiple choice, and the students adore reading the story to the class. They get very excited to see which of their teachers is the “star” of the story.

Edit all story elements!

All slides are given in an editable format so you are free to personalize the story for your students. PowerPoint is required to edit. Only story elements can be changed, not the actual problems.

Great way to review the area of composite figures for students. The questions are complex enough to work with each other and walking around makes it even more engaging.

I loved this activity! I used in with 7th graders in partners. They worked together on the google form. I also printed out the answer key for students, so they had dedicated work space to show their work while progressing through the Google Form. I also loved that we could edit the slides. I only edited the first slide (with teachers names) and kept the rest. It was perfect to review composite figures!

My students love the Math Libs! They are always engaged and love the riddles. I love that they are editable and can easily apply to students. Composite figures are hard for students, so this is a good activity to make them feel less daunting.
