Students will practice simplifying, multiplying, and dividing rational expressions with this coloring activity. Students should be able to simplify monomials, factor out a greatest common factor (GCF), factor differences of squares, and factor trinomials of the form ax² + bx + c where a ≥ 1. Opposite factors such as (x – a) and (a – x) are included. This activity was designed for an Algebra 2 course.
There are 20 problems total, separated into two sets. Students simplify each expression, then look for matching answers between the sets. They color the picture according to their matching answers. This could also used as a partner activity in which Partner A completes Set 1 and Partner B completes Set 2. I personally recommend this activity to be used as a partner activity!
