This rational expressions coloring activity helps Algebra 2 students practice simplifying, multiplying, and dividing rational expressions. Students simplify monomials, factor out a GCF, factor differences of squares, and factor trinomials of the form ax² + bx + c where a ≥ 1. Opposite factors such as (x − a) and (a − x) are included. The activity includes 20 problems, separated into two sets.
How It Works:
Students simplify each expression, then look for matching answers between the two sets. Each match tells them how to color the picture, so the activity is self-checking. It is recommended as a partner activity, with Partner A completing Set 1 and Partner B completing Set 2.
