Students will (1) sort perfect and nonperfect squares and (2) determine between which two consecutive integers the square root of a nonperfect square lies with this cut and paste activity. There are 36 square roots to sort.
Distribute both the organizer (two-sided) and the half page with the square roots. Students cut out the 36 square roots and organize them on the organizer to correctly identify whether the value is a perfect square, and if not, between which two consecutive integers the value falls given the number lines. They paste the cards down once organized. The cards are numbered to make it easier to grade!
