Students will practice writing equations of circles in standard form by completing the square with this coloring activity. There are 12 problems total. For each problem, the students write the equation in standard form, then identify a certain characteristic (center, radius, diameter, circumference, or area) of the circle. This will match the numbers with the colors in order to color the picture.

Circle equations are one of the last things that I cover in my Geometry class before state testing. I always try to find more activities that could work best in in individual or group settings. The coloring aspect also helps my students to de-stress as they prepare and practice for state testing.

The different types of questions related to the same topic were very useful. It was nice to link up some concepts about circles they learned a long time ago to the concepts they were learning at the moment, which was completing the square to put circles in standard form. It is a very visually appealing worksheet - the fonts and spacing and everything are standardized and nice. I find these types of details to matter more than we think they do.
