This Transformations Unit Review Escape Room Activity is a fun and challenging way for students to review concepts taught throughout the transformations unit in Geometry.
This resource contains two versions of the activity. Version 1 contains six challenge puzzles and all rotations and dilations are centered at the origin. Version 2 contains eight challenge puzzles and includes rotations and dilations not centered at the origin. Choose the version that best suits your needs.
Version 1:
• Challenge A: Translations
• Challenge B: Reflections
(x-axis, y-axis, y = x, y = -x, other vertical and horizontal lines)
• Challenge C: Rotations about the Origin
(90° clockwise/counterclockwise, 270° clockwise/counterclockwise, 180°)
• Challenge D: Dilations Centered at the Origin
• Challenge E: Sequences of Transformations
• Challenge F: Symmetry (Line, Point, Rotational)
Version 2:
• Challenge A: Translations
• Challenge B: Reflections (x-axis, y-axis, y = x, y = -x, other vertical and horizontal lines)
• Challenge C: Rotations about the Origin
(90° clockwise/counterclockwise, 270° clockwise/counterclockwise, 180°)
• Challenge D: Rotations about the other Points
(90° clockwise/counterclockwise, 270° clockwise/counterclockwise, 180°)
• Challenge E: Dilations Centered at the Origin
• Challenge F: Dilations Centered at other Points
• Challenge G: Sequences of Transformations
• Challenge H: Symmetry (Line, Point, Rotational)
Each challenge reveals a 3-digit, 4-digit, or 5-letter code. Detailed directions on how to prep and assemble challenges are included. A student recording sheet for codes and suggested methods for checking codes is also included. A prize is recommended for students who successfully crack all the codes.
How long does this activity take? The challenge puzzles are independent of each other so challenges can be removed to save time or differentiate. If using all six challenges, plan to use two periods or a full block.
