Students will practice finding linear and angular speed as they rotate through 10 stations with this “Math Lib” Activity. Questions include: finding linear speed given diameter/radius/circumference and rotations per minute (rpm), finding angular speed given rotations per minute, finding angular speed given diameter and linear speed, find rpm given linear speed, finding the rpm in a double-pulley problem given the rpm of one of the pulleys, and finding the linear speed given the angular speed and radius.

The answer at each station will give them a piece to a story (who, doing what, with who, where, when, etc.). This is a much more fun approach to multiple choice, and the students adore reading the story to the class. They get very excited to see which of their teachers is the “star” of the story.
