This Exponents and Exponential Functions Escape Room Activity is a fun, engaging way for students to review everything from the Exponents and Exponential Functions unit in Algebra 1. Students work through 6 challenge puzzles covering exponent rules, scientific notation, graphs of exponential functions, exponential growth and decay, geometric sequences, and simplifying radicals, cracking a code with each one.
Each challenge reveals a 3-digit, 4-digit, or 5-letter code. Detailed directions for prepping and assembling the challenges are included, along with a student recording sheet and suggested methods for checking codes. It works great as a review before the unit test, and a prize is recommended for students who successfully crack all the codes!

• Challenge A: Simplifying Expressions with Exponent Rules. This includes Product Rule, Power Rule, Quotient Rule, negative exponents, and combining like terms.
• Challenge B: Operations with Scientific Notation
• Challenge C: Graphs of Exponential Functions (identifying domain, range, y-intercept, and asymptotes)
• Challenge D: Exponential Growth and Decay Applications
• Challenge E: Geometric Sequences
• Challenge F: Simplifying Radicals (Square Root, Cube Root, and Monomial Expressions)
How long does this activity take? The challenge puzzles are independent of each other, so challenges can be removed to save time or differentiate. If using all six challenges, plan to use two class periods or a full block.
