This middle school volume and surface area maze activity includes four self-checking mazes that help middle school math students practice finding the volume and surface area of cylinders, prisms, pyramids, and cones. Square, rectangular, triangular, and a couple of trapezoidal bases are included, and all dimensions are given. For a more advanced version that requires the Pythagorean Theorem to find missing dimensions, click here.
How It Works:
Students solve each problem and use their answers to navigate through the maze. If they land on an answer that isn’t an option, they know right away to go back and check their work. Mazes work well as warm-ups, alternative homework assignments, classwork, or quick assessments.
