Students will practice graphing transformations including reflections in the x-axis, reflections in the y-axis, translations, and sequences of transformations that include both translations and reflections with this Scavenger Hunt activity. Students must be able to identify both the coordinates of the image given the preimage points, as well as identify the points of the preimage given the image points. All notation is given in verbal form with no symbolic notation.

This scavenger hunt includes 16 problems and a student recording worksheet. Hang the problems around the room (or in the hallway) and distribute the recording worksheet to each student. Clipboards work very well for this type of activity! Place your students in groups of 2-3 and assign each group a place to start. They solve the problem at the station, then use their answer to lead them to the next problem. They should finish the Scavenger Hunt at the same problem they started with
