Students will practice solving basic two-step equations to more complex multi-step equations with this “Gone Fishin” PowerPoint game. The fish really do swim in this animated game, which the students LOVE! The types of problems are as follows:

Red Fish: Two-Step Equations
Yellow Fish: Distributing & Combining Like Terms (Variables on One Side)
Green Fish: Variables on Both Sides
Blue Fish: Distributing & Combining Like Terms (Variables on Both Sides)

Students are divided into two teams. Students can either aim for the fish with a Koosh Ball (if playing with a Smart Board), or come up to the computer to select a fish. Once a fish is selected, it will advance to that slide. All students solve the equation on their recording worksheet (provided with download). Call on a student from the team that threw to answer it and if they answer correctly, they get a point. There is an answer key for you to check! If they answer incorrectly, call on a student from the other team. The fish disappear as they are selected so there will be no repeats. There are 44 questions included this game (11 of each fish color). Special Solutions are NOT included in this game.

PowerPoint is required for this game! It will not work with Google Slides or any other program. The game can be played with a Smart Board (or other interactive whiteboard) in which students can aim for a fish with a Koosh ball. Or, you can play the game with a projector and just have students come up to the computer to click on a fish.

This is by far my favorite purchase on TPT. A lot of fun and very challenging. My kids go crazy when we play this...in a good way. Thank you!

—AKIDA M.

I had my class in teams and had pairs of students answer the question. I purchased game buzzers that made animal sounds (they loved that!) and it was more like a game show. Points awarded for correct answers, and the first student(s) who answer correctly earned the right to pick the next fish. It was a hit! I've purchased other such games from you and love all of your products. Thank you!! You make my job much easier.

—RENELLA R.
