Students will practice solving word problems by writing linear equations with this set of 16 task cards. This includes using slope-intercept form, standard form, and point-slope form (given a point and a slope or given two points). Students will need to determine which type of linear equation best fits the information provided as well as write and solve the linear equation.

Students can check their answers by scanning the QR code on each card. Connection to the internet is not required to scan the code, however, a QR scanner app is required on the device. There are several free apps available to download. Cards without QR codes also included should you wish not to use them.

I'm always on the look for electronic activities that make it easy and accessible for students to practice and check their own work. Knowing that one of the greatest challenges my students face in Algebra 1 is applying linear functions to real world scenarios, I needed something that student could monitor their own progress with. This activity works perfectly for it. As they work in groups or on their own, you can use these task cards to work with a small group or have students who exceed to try and figure it out for themselves. I am building a library of ATA activities because they are perfect for the block schedule I teach.
