Students will review basic skills taught in Pre-Algebra and during the first few weeks of Algebra 1 with this set of 40 task cards. Concepts include the real number system, properties, order of operations (includes square roots and absolute value), evaluating expressions, simplifying expressions by distributing, combining like terms, and translating expressions/equations/inequalities. Problems range in difficulty.
A worksheet is provided for students to show their work and record their answers. They can check their answers by scanning the QR code on each card.
Connection to the internet is not required to scan the code, however, a QR scanner app is required on the device. There are several free apps available to download. If you haven’t used QR codes in your classroom yet, I highly recommend them! Students love using the technology, and the self-checking makes it easier on the teacher!
If using my Algebra 1 Curriculum, this activity works well as a review in Unit 1 (Algebra Basics) before starting two-step equations. This also works very well as a pre-assessment.
