Students will practice the following skills with this Find Someone Who activity:
• Writing an equation in slope-intercept form given the graph.
• Writing an equation in slope-intercept form given standard form.
• Writing an equation in slope-intercept form given a point and slope.
• Writing an equation in slope-intercept form given two points.
• Writing an equation that is parallel to a given line, passing through a certain point.
• Writing an equation that is perpendicular to a given line, passing through a certain point.
• Finding the line of best fit given a table of values.
• Use the line of best fit to estimate another outcome.
I distribute the Find Someone Who Activity to each student and first tell students to put their name on the paper, because they will be trading papers with their classmates many times. Then, they choose any one problem to do on their own to start. Then, they get up and find 13 other people to trade papers to complete the remaining problems. They sign their name on the problems they did. I walk around with my own paper and trade with them as well and encourage students to try different problems each time. This gives me an opportunity to engage in math discussion with them individually.
