This resource contains 30 coordinate proofs for quadrilaterals. Students will determine the most specific classification for a quadrilateral (quadrilateral, parallelogram, rectangle, rhombus, or square) given its four vertices, graph the figure, and complete a coordinate proof (using distance and slope formulas).
In addition to the proofs, there are optional wall headings for each quadrilateral, an answer key, and a TEMPLATE if you wish to create more proofs! PowerPoint is required to edit the template.
A few ways to use this activity (options are truly endless!):
(1) Use as a warm-up or exit ticket in which each student completes one proof. They can place their proof on the wall under the correct heading.
(2) Distribute one proof to each student and see which “group” can find each other first, with completed and accurate proofs. There are 6 quadrilateral, 6 parallelogram, 6 rectangle, 6 rhombus, and 6 square proofs.
(3) Use as a partner activity in which each partner receives 5 proofs to complete (one of each kind). They would work together to complete the proofs and identify their matching figures.
*Note: There is more than one way to complete each proof!
