This resource contains 8 proofs to help students practice writing and completing more complex algebraic proofs. Reasons included: given, addition property of equality, subtraction property of equality, multiplication property of equality, division property of equality, distributive property, simplify, substitution property, and transitive property.
These proofs are a little more advanced compared those in my Algebraic Proofs Peel & Stick Set 1. Students must think a little more abstractly. The proofs provide a great transition into more complex geometric proofs, especially segment and angle proofs.
Print the proofs on colored paper and the reasons on Avery 8167 white return labels. Students stick the reason labels on the proofs that correspond to the given statements.
No labels? No problem!
Use as a cut and paste activity, exit/entrance tickets, or place in sheet protectors for students to complete with dry erase markers.
Bonus: I also included a completely blank version of this activity if you’d like your students to do the proofs from start to finish on their own. This option would not use labels.
