Students will practice solving quadratic equations by square roots with this scavenger hunt. Students will need to isolate the squared term by using inverse operations to remove constants and coefficients, then take the square root of both sides. This activity includes rational, irrational, and complex solutions. All irrational and complex solutions are written in simplest form.
Simply print the 15 cards and scatter around the room and put a few in the hallway if possible. Students are placed in groups and assigned to a starting problem. The answer they get will lead them to their next problem. Scavenger hunts are one of my favorite activities because it gets students up and moving, and provides a way for students to self-check.
