Students will practice finding slope given two points using the slope formula. with this “Triples” Activity. There are 30 total cards in which there are 10 sets of 3 cards with the same answer. I created this activity as a twist on the classic task cards.

Students can work on their own or in teams to find all the slopes. Once they have found all slopes, I have them cut them out, staple their “triples”, and place them in a zip-lock bag for a classwork grade. An answer key is provided to ensure the correct cards are matched together.

Used this with my 8th grade algebra students today, and they LOVED it! They asked me if we were doing something "fun" in class today, and I jokingly replied that my idea of "fun" and theirs were likely very different. I put them in pairs, had them cut out the cards and then divide the 30 between themselves. It wasn't long before the students started saying how fun this activity was and how we should do more activities like this! It's so funny how just changing the format slightly can completely change the way the students see the activity - had I given them a worksheet with 15 problems on it, they would definitely NOT have thought that was fun, but this accomplished the same outcome and they thought it was fantastic! Going to find more of these Triples Activities! :)
