Students will list and determine the number of possible outcomes and favorable outcomes of an event and determine the number of possible outcomes of compound events using tree diagrams and the counting principle with this set of 24 task cards. Both mutually exclusive and mutually inclusive events included. The cards are organized as follows:
- Cards 1-4: Give the total number of outcomes and list favorable outcomes for a specific event.
- Cards 5-8: Give the number of favorable outcomes for specific events.
- Cards 9-12: Give the total number of outcomes using a tree diagram.
- Cards 13-24: Give the total number of outcomes using the Fundamental Counting Principle.
A recording worksheet is included for students to show work and record answers. They can check their answers by scanning the QR code on each card. Connection to the internet is not required to scan the code. However, a QR scanner app is required on the device. There are several free apps available to download.
If you haven’t used QR codes in your classroom yet, I highly recommend them! Students love using the technology, and the self-checking makes it easier on the teacher!
A version without QR codes is included as well.
