Students will practice the following skills with this Find Someone Who activity:
• Find the slope of a line given a graph.
• Find the slope of a line given two ordered pairs.
• Identify the slope formula, slope-intercept form and standard form of a linear equation.
• Convert equations from standard form to slope-intercept form
• Graph equations given in slope-intercept form.
• Graph equations given in standard form by converting to slope-intercept form.
• Graph equations given in standard form by identify x– and y-intercepts.
• Graph vertical and horizontal lines.
I distribute the Find Someone Who Activity to each student and first tell students to put their name on the paper, because they will be trading papers with their classmates many times. Then, they choose any one problem to do on their own to start. Then, they get up and find 13 other people to trade papers to complete the remaining problems. They sign their name on the problems they did. I walk around with my own paper and trade with them as well and encourage students to try different problems each time. This gives me an opportunity to engage in math discussion with them individually.
