Students will practice finding the area and perimeter of composite figures with this cut and paste puzzle. All figures can be divided into squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids, and circles. Because circles are included, students must have a knowledge of the area and circumference of circles formulas. One problem will require that students use the Pythagorean Theorem to find a side length. The pi button on the calculator is used for all circle calculations and all answers are rounded to the nearest tenth.
Students find the area and perimeter of each figure, then cut out the squares and rearrange so the edges meet and paste onto a template. The box letters make it easy for students to organize their work AND make it easier to grade!
Note: This is a challenging activity designed for either high school Geometry students or advanced middle school math students.
