This arc and angle measures in circles challenge puzzle activity includes four challenge puzzles that help students use relationships in circles to find arc and angle measures. Students work with central angles, inscribed angles (including those that intercept a diameter), inscribed quadrilaterals, and angles formed by intersecting chords, secants, and tangents (interior, on the circle, and exterior), along with vertical angles and the Triangle Sum Theorem. The puzzles progress in difficulty: Versions 1 and 2 are more basic, while Versions 3 and 4 are much more difficult and best for students who want a challenge. Students find 21 angle measures in Version 1, 26 in Version 2, and 32 in each of Versions 3 and 4.
How It Works:
Each puzzle is one large figure with many missing measures. Students work through the figure step by step, using the measures they have already found to find the next ones. This makes challenge puzzles a great way to stretch thinking beyond routine practice. Use them for review days, early finishers, extra credit, or enrichment.
