This parallel lines cut by a transversal cross number puzzle helps students use the angle relationships formed when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, including corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, consecutive interior, and consecutive exterior angles, to find missing angle measures. Complementary, supplementary, and vertical angles are also included, and no algebra is required. Some diagrams are included, but the activity mainly focuses on vocabulary and applying angle relationships. There are 30 problems.
Two versions are included: one uses the terms consecutive interior and consecutive exterior angles, and the other uses same-side interior and same-side exterior angles. Choose the version that best suits your needs.
How It Works:
This activity works like a crossword puzzle, but students fill in numbers instead of letters. Students solve each Across and Down problem and record their answers in the puzzle. The puzzle is self-checking, because answers that don’t fit help students spot and correct mistakes. It can be completed independently or with a partner, with one partner completing the Across problems and the other completing the Down problems.
